Sorry for the lack of updates I've been really busy with this whole "college" stuff and my computer randomly deciding it wants to turn into a jet engine :(
Ok seriously, hear me out: The enderman is better than any other mob in Minecraft.
Why?
They are fun, that's why.Part 1: Introduction and explanation:
Ok maybe that simple statement isn't convincing enough, let me explain a little.
Endermen have been in the game for a very, very long time, since beta 1.8 in fact, and that was back in 2011, just 2 years after the game's original release, so while they haven't exactly been there since day 1, they've still been around for longer than most, it's a legendary mob bassed off a legendary creepypasta, that's got a pretty unique gameplay concept: you just don't have to look at him, unless you've got a pumpkin, in that case you're basically just another enderman to them, which is something I find very interesting, and I'll delve deeper into it later.
Simply put: the enderman is one of the most unique mobs in all of minecraft, while many mobs opt for the ground-breaking strategy of running at you and dealing the big damag, or, if they wanna shake it up a little, shooting projectiles, the enderman is just chill as long as you don't look at him, he just goes about his day like normal, kinda makes you wonder if he's even that much of a threat; makes them feel more like other players than actual mobs.
What's up with the endermen anyway?I always thought the endermen were super weird when I started playing back in 1.6.4 and that already made them kind of special for me: they can pick up and place blocks, they can teleport; they have an entire dimension dedicated to them; they can clearly speak (albeit in the form small, disconnected sentences); they're just so weird, but that's what makes them endearing in a way, would you like the endermen if they were just a teleporting zombie reskin? I know I wouldn't, even with the end intact it'd take away so much of what makes the endermen so special.
Let's also not ignore the fact that endermen are objectively cool :P
Part 2: Deep Dive:Ok, but let's get serious now, if you'll excuse me I'll be going on a quick 2 hour tangent about why endermen are so cool, why their design is genius, and why they work so well, making what I believe to be the single best mob in all of Minecraft.
Example Number 1: Gameplay Mechanics
As I said, I think the endermen are one of, if not THE, single most unique mobs in Minecraft, even the ones that were added in the more recent updates like the warden, which is based on the creature heard in the infamous disc 11, or the ender dragon itself, which is supposed to be lording (or I guess ladying seeing as its a female), or even the original creeper, which is almost basic in comparison to the one and only enderman.
Simply put, I think the endermen are one of the few enemies that you can truly tackle any way you'd like, which adds a lot to their gameplay, you could very feasibly avoid them for the entire game, getting ender pearls through loot or piglin trades; you could build little roofs to exploit their height; you could use a bucket of water; you could just stand in the rain, hell the only thing you straight up can't do is shoot them, they'll just teleport out of the way before it hits them, but everything else is fair game, and I think that makes them rather special, what with most enemies just making a b-line towards you with no real plan or strategy.
Furthermore: yeah they can teleport.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think theres' a single other mob in minecraft that teleports (besides the wolf but that's more of a gameplay compromise than an intended feature), and I hear so few people talking about it, we really need to appreciate what the enderman brings to the table, he's really unique and the catalyst for some of the most iconic minecraft moments, who could forget the "wtf is that damage" guy and his frantic sprint up the stairs as he was followed by an enderman? No one! And let's not forget that the final fight of Minecraft takes place in THEIR turf, which is a barren wasteland save for the chorus fruit trees and the end cities(side note: I keep forgetting chorus fruit exists because it's been 6 years since I've last been to the End, I don't like beating Minecraft), still, for what it is, it's pretty unique and interesting, and I think the end city designs are some of the most underrated parts of minecraft, it's kind of not quite almost alien, like you can see the alien in the structure and the shulkers and the blocks, but it's still recognizable as a city, and I think that's pretty neat! Although I do have to question the purpose of shulkers and elytras, why do they need them when they can teleport? They feel like they don't belong there, lots to think about with that, might bring it up later.
You know, another weird thing about the endermen is that they don't attack you if you look at them through glass. Glass as a block I can understand, but then there are glass panes which don't count as a full block and yet they still prevent the endermen from attacking...
Maybe they just need their glasses :Poh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god math math math math math math math math math oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh lord oh lord oh lord i'm freaking out oh god oh god oh god oh god don't wanna fail again oh god oh god oh god dear god no nonononono not again oh god i paid money for this oh god oh god oh god if i fail college is over oh god oh god oh god oh god oh lord oh god save me
